This past week I got the chance to test drive Ibotta while I stocked up on non perishables for Sandy. (New to Ibotta? It’s the new, interactive shopping app that gives you cash back for qualifying items at Target, Walmart, and Walgreens. Read my initial review here.) I headed over to Target to get my hands on some peanut butter and jelly, since there was absolutely nothing left in my local grocery store. Ibotta offers are good for 50 cents to sometimes up to $1.75 off qualifying grocery and personal care items. The way you earn your cash back is by taking polls, learning product facts, and sharing your purchases on social networks. I quickly earned 50 cents off of one Jif creamy peanut butter and one Smucker’s Simply Fruit Strawberry jelly. The cool thing about using Ibotta is that you can scan items before you buy them to make sure they match your offers.
After I determined both my peanut butter and jelly were the right kind, I hit “Redeem” and uploaded a picture of my receipt. Almost immediately, I received email confirmation that I’d saved 50 cents on the Smucker’s jelly, but not the peanut butter. So I filled out the “Report an Issue” box.
My concern was promptly addressed by the Ibotta team, and I received credit for the peanut butter too.
Overall, I’m really happy with the functionality of this app. And I’m pleased to see how easy it is to correct problems. It’s really simple to rack up quick cash and, once I’ve earned $5, Ibotta will pay me through PayPal. I will continue to shop with Ibotta throughout the holiday season, and I’m excited to see how much I save. I also eagerly anticipate seeing Ibotta expand to more pharmacies/grocery stores.
Want to earn more money with Ibotta? You’ll receive $1 in your Ibotta account for each friend you refer (after you and your friend both redeem your first Ibotta offers). And don’t forget that Ibotta offers are stackable, so you can use them with store and manufacturer coupons to really reduce a qualifying item’s price to almost nothing.
Happy holiday food shopping!
