How to SnipSnap Your Internet/Email Coupons (Like This 25% off Coach Offer!)

SnipSnap was originally conceived as the first app to let you mobilize your print offers by taking pictures of them and digitizing their information so you can scan and redeem them straight from your phone. The idea was to actually take pictures of all those pieces of paper you receive in your mail box and then forever lose between your couch cushions and car seats. The fact is that the overwhelming majority of coupons issued by restaurants and retailers are, even in this mobile, socially networked world, still print offers. And, since the print coupon has been around for over 125 years now, this fact is not likely to change too soon. But that doesn’t mean you can’t access amazing deals online – especially with so many brand Facebook pages taking advantage of Facebook Offers. Did you know that you can load Internet/email coupons into SnipSnap by taking screen captures instead of pictures? Here’s how it works:

If you want to make sure you get the first heads up on a company’s email and/or Facebook offers, make sure you sign up for that company’s email subscription on its website and “like” its Facebook page. Whenever you receive an email coupon or claim a Facebook offer, just use your phone’s screen capture function to save an image of the coupon to your photo library. In order to upload the coupon to SnipSnap, so you’ll receive location and expiration date reminders, just open the app and tap the camera icon at the bottom of your home screen like you normally would:

When you’ve entered the image capturing screen, just tap the photo icon to the left of the camera icon:

Then just select the screen capture of the coupon and crop it to size.

This particular Coach coupon states very clearly that it is single use:

Here are some extra tips to help you get started SnipSnapping your Internet/Email offers like a pro:

  • Make sure you capture the company logo. In order for SnipSnap to recognize your offers as a particular store’s and file it accordingly, you need to capture the name of the store. If the name of the store is, for some reason, not on the coupon itself, you can always take a screen shot of the company logo by doing a simple search with your mobile web browser.
  • Make sure you read the coupon details. Many Internet offers state that they can be redeemed by printing or displaying on a mobile phone. Some only state that they can be redeemed in print, but, often, stores with “print only” coupons will still honor them off your mobile phone. Always mark single use coupons private so your savings stay yours.

That’s all there is to it! Happy SnipSnapping!
