Frugal Fashion: Get Rihanna’s Look for Less

Here’s my frugal shopping philosophy: It’s great to save money. It’s even better to save time. It’s best to save time and money simultaneously.

(time+money > time > money)

Truly, I won’t buy a new piece for my wardrobe unless I have a coupon or it’s on sale. (Check out how I’ve been shopping the sales rack at Forever 21 for $5 sundresses and spring rompers.) But sometimes (ok, pretty much always) I don’t have time to scour thScreen Shot 2013-03-17 at 4.18.34 PMe mall for budget friendly finds. It’s not worth saving the money if I’ve spent valuable writing time clanging through clearance racks. Which is why I love fashion blogs.

In particular? I’m totally digging Dana Forman’s What the Frock Fashion, which breaks down celebrity style and matches designer pieces to retail versions at a fraction of the cost. I’m completely loving this Rihanna runway look-for-less, featuring a $35 ASOS maxi dress, Steve Madden shoes, Forever 21 rings, and crystal bangle bracelets from Kohl’s.

Having a game plan when you go shopping is really important. So if you’re shopping for an event, make sure you know where to find the pieces you want for less, but don’t assume you can’t buy them even cheaper with coupons. Those bracelets from Kohl’s?
