Your Mad-Dash Last Minute Mobile Holiday Shopping Guide

This is it, folks! It’s the last day to finish up all your holiday shopping and the roads/malls/grocery stores are all going to be nuts. The pressure that comes with Christmas Eve shopping can really wrack your nerves and lead you to spend more money than you normally would –  just so you can be done with it all. Wouldn’t it be great to have a go-to guide that breaks down all the best ways to save today? Well, here it is! Check out Mo’ Money’s top 5 tips on how to easily, efficiently, and frugally finish your holiday shopping, without completely destroying your Christmas cheer and exploding your credit cards.

  • Take Advantage of Free Mobile Gift Giving. I’ve been blogging a lot about Wrapp these past few weeks because I think it’s such an essential holiday app. Wrapp lets you send free $5 and $10 mobile gift cards (and larger, paid mobile gift cards, of course) to your Facebook friends. I have tons of Facebook friends I don’t see on a regular basis, but to whom I’d still love to send some holiday cheer. Think a $5/$10 gift card won’t buy much? Check out all your friends can buy for next to nothing at Gap, Sephora, and H&M.Screen Shot 2012-12-24 at 2.46.00 PM
  • Score Free Eats. If you’re logging long hours at the mall today you’re going to need to eat. You don’t have to spend a fortune. In fact, you don’t even have to spend any money at all. At the mall? You can SScreen Shot 2012-12-24 at 2.43.04 PMnipSnap coupons for free pretzels and drinks at Auntie Anne’s. Hungry on the road? Check out my Fast Food Coupon bundle, complete with coupons for free burgers, fries, and milkshakes at some of my favorite fast food joints like Sonic, Wendy’s, Arby’s, and more.
  • Make a Coupon List, Check it Twice. If you’re heading out on a holiday shopping haul and you want to keep your wits about you, make a cup of tea and plan things out first. SnipSnap’s new version 2.0 lets you custom organize your coupons by shopping trip. Create holiday shopping coScreen Shot 2012-12-24 at 2.38.43 PMupon bundles with all of the deals you plan on taking advantage of today. You can even create multiple holiday shopping coupon bundles, one for each store you plan on visiting.
  • Consult Your Store Sale Options. Shopkick and Shopular are great apps for getting a heads up on in-store sales and promotions. Find out what’s on sale at your local mall in an instant by flipping through shopkick look books and Shopular ads. Shopkick will reward you with incentive “kicks” you can redeem for real-world rewards like Starbucks cards. Do enough shopping, and you might earn a free latte by the end of the day.
  • When at All Possible, Stack Your Mobile Savings. Whenever you walk into a store, you have to ask yourself, “How many ways can I save?” Stocking up at Target? You can SnipSnap Target store coupons, exchange shopkick kicks for Target mobile gift cards,  and redeem qualifying Ibotta offers.

That’s all there is to it! Stay safe out there, save tons of money, and have the best holidays yet.

How to save $100 on a Holiday Shopping Haul with Your Smart Phone

I’m obsessed with holiday shopping. I love buying gifts, but sometimes I get depressed whScreen Shot 2012-12-19 at 1.13.35 PMen I think about how much my holiday spending could add up to. People go broke over the holidays. They actually accumulate debt. It’s scary. It doesn’t need to be that way if you have a smart phone and you know how to use it. I took a trip to the mall last night to do some holiday shopping with a friend and we took advantage of store sales, promotions, and four different shopping/couponing apps to save over $100 on stocking stuffers and holiday gifts.

First order of business? Shamefully, I needed to get a wee bit of personal shopping out of the way to start. My purse strap broke in the shopping mall parking lot so I needed a new hand bag. I perused the new Shopular app for store sales and I discovered a one-day promotion at Urban Outfitters: Save 15% off anything with your college ID (even if it’s old!) Since I’m a sentimental girl, I still have my undergraduate college ID carScreen Shot 2012-12-19 at 1.26.06 PMd in my wallet. I found this gorgeous motorcycle bag already on sale from $69 down to $39.00. With my ID, I saved another $5.85, which brought my total to 33.15 + tax! It wasn’t a bad way to start off my trip.

My friend Chris and I headed to Macy’s, where we unlocked 70 walk-in kicks in shopkick and then stopped by the jewelery counter so he could do some of his Christmas shopping. He found a gorgeous pair of sterling silver earrings, on sale from $45.00 to $22.50. We used this shopkick Macy’s WOW Pass coupon to save an additional 15%, which brought the total down to $19 and change plus tax.

Screen Shot 2012-12-19 at 1.13.55 PMI then headed to H&M to pick up a dress for my mother. H&M is having a giant clothing sale right now, with blouses and dresses just $10-$20. I found this absolutely gorgeous cranberry dress marked down from $39.00 to $20. I received an additional $5 sale discount at the register and then I redeemed a free Wrapp H&M gift card my friend gave me. Total cost: $5. Sweet!

Screen Shot 2012-12-19 at 1.36.26 PMWe were starving after all that shopping, so, instead of paying a ton of money for grub at the mall food court, we SnipSnapped a coupon for $1 off Auntie Anne’s cinnamon sugar snowball pretzel nuggets. YUM.

Well, there you have it! We just about hit $100 dollars in savings on this mini shopping haul alone. We saved $35.85 on the purse, $25.87 on the earrings, $34 on the dress, and $1 off our post holiday snack, bringing our total to $96.72!

SnipSnap at Auntie Anne’s this Holiday Shopping Season

My number one place to eat while shopping: Auntie Anne’s. Why? Because free food and drink is one SnipSnap second away.

Whenever I go shopping, I make an effort to save on everything, including fuel. Mall food court grub is expensive, so I’ll only eat with coupons. Usually I’m with a friend, too, so Auntie Anne’s BOGO deals are perfect. I can always find the exact coupon I need by searching through all the Auntie Anne’s offers on my phone.

Auntie Anne’s is really mobile coupon friendly. In fact, recently, Auntie Anne’s teamed up with Coke to offer back-to-school shoppers mobile coupons for free food and drinks. The coupons appeared as banner ads that popped up in various entertainment smartphone apps whenever shoppers got close to an Auntie Anne’s store.

Oh yeah: It’s time for Sampling Saturdays, now through November 10th! So you can try before you coupon. Sweet.
