Cheap, Nutritious McDonald’s Eats: $1 Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothies, BOGO Egg White Delights

Happy Monday, everyone!

It’s 80 degrees today in Philadelphia, and it finally feels like we’re in the final stretch towards summer. It’s graduation season, and with the end of another school year, lots of families are gearing up for summer vacations: long days at the pool and weeks at the beach. I can’t wait for my summer vacation and I’ve been ferociously couponing my hot weather wardrobe. I even used mobile coupons to score a completely free bikini! As you can tell, one of my chief aims in life is to look good and feel great without spending a lot of money. This applies to to what I put on my body as much as it applies to what I put in my body. I usually have way too much on my plate to actually cook meals during the week, so I rely heavily on convenience food and coffee pit stops. But, just because I’m busy, doesn’t mean I eat junk. We’re past the age when McDonald’s was to blame for your expanding wasteline; today, a fast food lunch will not only save you a ton of money (even more with coupons!) it can also save you a ton of calories – if you know what to order.

What’s on the healthy, delicious, frugal McDonald’s menu this week? Fruit smoothies and high-protein breakfast sandwiches!

This week, from May 21-23, McDonald’s is offering its brand new Blueberry Pomegranate smoothies for just $1.

A small smoothie will set you back just 220 calories and will fill you up (it has 3 grams of fiber) more than a sugary, junky soda.

You don’t need a coupon to take advantage of this deal, but if you want to make it a meal, make sure you SnipSnap this coupon for BOGO Egg White Delight McMuffin sandwiches:

I’m so excited about these new McMuffins; they’re a really great choice for a fast, delicious breakfast. With 18 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, and just 7 grams of fat/250 calories, you’re not breaking the calorie bank first thing in the morning.

How to Score a FREE Bikini at H&M This SwimSuit Shopping Season

Yesterday, I had a pretty epic evening at the mall. I’m going on a very tropical vacation next month and, since I’ll be spending my fair share of time in the sun, at the pool and by the sea, I’ll need more than my fair share of bikinis. Last week I used a $5 Target mobile coupon to save on this already very affordable (and extremely adorable) mint green and cheetah print bikini:

Yesterday, I decided I needed more swimwear in my vacation wardrobe. At the end of last month, Wrapp, my absolute favorite social gifting app, celebrated its one year anniversary with a free $10 mobile H&M gift card for users who shared its anniversary Facebook status. (New to Wrapp and have no idea what I’m talking about? Read my original Wrapp review right here.) Since my gift card was about to expire, I decided to shop the H&M swim section to see what kind of deals I could find.

I had no idea what I was walking into when I entered the abyss of bikini tress at the front of my H&M. In truth, it was a little wild looking: bikini tops strangling hangers haphazardly and bikini bottoms strewn all over the floor. I couldn’t make sense of the bikini murder scene – until I saw the sale sign announcing tops and bottoms starting at just $4.95. I tried to be a little more polite about how I tackled the bikini trees myself, but I was really excited to dig through them all and find the less-than-$10 swimsuit that was screaming for me. (“Liz, buy me!”)

I found it! It’s tie-dyed white and green, the perfect shade of palm trees, and there’s nothing cheap about it (except the price). It even has some sweet, silver toggles embellishing the ends of the bikini strings to keep them from fraying and to add a touch of shiny:

My total bikini cost came to $9.90, so I received my bikini for free with ten cents to spare by redeeming my Wrapp card! If you scored one of the free Wrapp $10 H&M gift cards – make sure you hurry on over to your H&M (or shop online) and score your free bikini now. Here’s another style that’s just $9.90, total, top to bottom:

Didn’t receive an anniversary Wrapp gift card? Don’t worry! You can still exchange free $6 Wrapp gift cards to H&M with your Facebook friends in the Wrapp app.

Screen Shot 2013-04-24 at 1.32.29 PMWhenever I think about affordable spring clothing, Old Navy is one of the first stores that, well, springs to mind. I can always, always stock up on essentials like cut offs and khaki shorts at Old Navy; for the low price, everything at Old Navy is well-made and reliably sized (which makes trying things on less traumatic and ordering online a cinch). I’m ready to do an Old Navy haul because I need a new pair of The Rockstar Super Skinny jeans (seriously, these are the best skinny jeans EVER). I’m hoping Screen Shot 2013-04-24 at 1.28.59 PMto shop a little tonight at an Old Navy store, so I SnipSnapped this coupon for $15 off my $75 purchase. But, if I can’t make it to the mall, I’m taking advantage of Old Navy’s 15% off online promo code.
