New Shopular App Curates Store Circulars + Coupons

Screen Shot 2012-12-18 at 3.13.24 PMThere’s a new shopping app in town! Just released last Friday, Shopular, created by two former shopkick engineers, is already stirring things up – in a good way.

I have to say, I’m really liking Shopular. The app collects and curates lists of store sales and coupons I can take advantage of at my local mall. The best part is the sleek user interface, which puts everything at my fingertips and makes it really easy to plan my shopping trips around store sales and my SnipSnapped
coupons.

I’m hearing a lot of buzz that categorizes Shopular is a couponing app but, after my initial interaction with it, I’ve decided it’s more a shopping circular app (which does support a limited number of coupons).

Here’s how it works: Shopular is location aware and Facebook integrated, in order to display customized group circulars for local malls and big box retailers in your area. Once you choose your mall, you’ll get a screen that looks like this:

Some coupons are really cool, like this coupon for a free item (up to $13 value) at Bath & Body Works with a $10 purchase.

However, many “coupons” are actually just links to retailers’ websites, where you can retrieve promo codes that should work at the regiScreen Shot 2012-12-18 at 3.46.32 PMster. And those coupons that are actually contained in the app don’t have scanable, mobile-optimized bar codes.

I will definitely be using Shopular to keep ahead of store sales and match promos with my coupons. I’m taking the app on a test run tonight to experience first-hand its functionality and coupon redemption process. What I love is that Shopular does almost all the work for me – I can determine the best place to shop for what’s on my list, simply by consulting what’s on sale in the app. And I can get live updates on how other Shopular users are stacking coupons and combining deals. I can’t wait to take this baby for a spin on my next shopping adventure!

Bath & Body Works Holiday Candle Sale: Save Even MORE with SnipSnap

I’m pretty much addicted to candles. I keep them burning beside me wherever I go. I have particular candle needs for every room of my house: summer fruits and florals for the bathroom, vanilla frosting for the bedroom, cookies/cakes/cinnamon strudel scents for the kitchen.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with holiday candles as holiday gifts. And you don’t have to spend a fortune.

($30 for a large jar candle = way. too. much.)

Bath & Body Works is having a pretty awesome candle sale right now! I stopped by myScreen Shot 2012-12-17 at 3.04.28 PM local store yesterday and picked up two, giant 14.5 oz. candles (normally $20 each) for $20 combined.

I’m going to burn the Merry Cookie and give the Toffee Crunch as a gift. And then I’m going back to get more.

In addition to the 2 14.5 oz. for $20 sale, BBW’s mini candles (normally $3.50 each) are currently 2 for $5. I picked up two of those as well.

After all of my in-store savings ($22.00), I still saved an additional %20 ($5) off my entire purchase by SnipSnapping this coupon:

Which brings my total savings for the day to $27.00! (I only spent 21.40 with tax.) After I checked out, I made sure to scan my receipt’s bar code into the Bath & Body Works app to earn points toward free items.

SnipSnap Success at H&M

Last week, I blogged about how to get completely free stocking stuffers at H&M using Wrapp’s promotional free $10 mobile gift card.

Yesterday, I went shopping at H&M for a pair of winter boots. And I found these babies for $49.99. And then I fell in love.

I quickly SnipSnapped an H&M store coupon for 20% off one item. It’s the perfect coupon to use if you want to purchase higher ticket items, like winter coats and boots:

I also grabbed a great pair of guy’s gloves ($7 on clearance) and a super-cute cosmetics case ($3.95).

At the register, I was told that I couldn’t stack my SnipSnap coupon with my Wrapp gift card. Technically, you should be able to to stack Wrapp gift cards (they work just like any other gift card as currency instead of a coupon) but, since my SnipSnap coupon was limited to one item only, I just decided to split my transaction into two. I purchased my boots with the SnipSnap coupon (and saved $10) and I purchased the accessories with the Wrapp gift card and saved another $10. The accessories came to $1.02 after the Wrapp card!

Hurry! Today is the last day of the Wrapp free $10 H&M gift promotion! And you can still use the SnipSnap coupon for another two weeks. So, make sure you use it to snatch up your winter coats and shoes – and let me know how you’ve saved!
