Technically Philly Tests out SnipSnip for Android

SnipSnap for Android and iOS got some attention on Technically Philly yesterday, in celebrationScreen Shot 2013-03-20 at 1.43.29 PM of Android’s release and iOS hitting 550K users. SnipSnap CEO Ted Mann also explained a little more about bar code beaming technology, and how mobile couponing could become much more high-tech for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The Android version is similar to the iOS version, said Mann except that the Android app also has the ability to “beam” barcodes. That means that your phone’s infrared sensor transmits the coupon barcode to laser-based scanners that can’t read barcodes off a phone, Mann said. That functionality is only available for Samsung Galaxy S4.

SnipSnap for Android is TechCrunch and Android Police Approved

It’s such an exciting time here at SnipSnap! We’re thrilled about the release of SnipSnap for Android in GooglScreen Shot 2013-03-19 at 1.42.20 PMe Play.

We’re getting lots of love from our new Android users and the press too. TechCrunch’s Chris Velazco published a great write up about SnipSnap for Android, highlighting how well its form and function compete with the iPhone version of the app, and all the cool features Android users have to look forward to, like beamable bar codes.

SnipSnap One of AndroidGuys Top Android Apps

We’re on the verge of launching SnipSnap for Android! After a successful betScreen Shot 2013-03-15 at 5.08.38 PMa test trial, a full-fledged Android edition of the first app to completely mobilize your print coupons is almost here. Android beta received some final praise this week from AndroidGuys, who named SnipSnap one of their “15 Android games and apps you should know about”

SnipSnap is the first app that lets you take a picture of a printed coupon and save it to your smart phone and solves that all too regular occurrence of realizing your coupon is back at home and you’re ready to checkout. No coupon? No problem! Tap the ‘Discover’ tab and search the 10,000′s of coupons snipped by other users. On average, active users save 40 bucks a week.
