Macy’s Delivers Mobile Coupons to Clip’d App

From: Macy’s delivers mobile coupons to mall shoppers via Clip’d app – Mobile Commerce Daily – Multichannel retail support.

There are tons of mobile ways to save at Macy’s. You can SnipSnap your print coupons and the Star Rewards you earn when you use your Macy’s credit card. You can shopkick to earn incentives. You can sign up for Macy’s text messages to stay ahead of the sales. (Visit Mo’ Money’s Macy’s Store Guide for more info.)

Macy’s does have a mobile app, but it currently doesn’t offer users its own, exclusive mobile coupons. Macy’s did recently team up with coupon app Clip’d, to offer mall shoppers special mobile deals, whenever they’re in the vicinity of a Macy’s store.

Clip’d works by locating shoppers and offering them coupons to stores in their mall. Shoppers can then select the coupons they wish to use and store them in the Clip’d mobile wallet. Many Clip’d offers can simply be scanned, via bar code, from smart phone screens. Clip’d also offers push notifications, so shoppers will be reminded to redeem any unused coupons the next time they enter their local mall.

Other retailers are on board with Clip’d coupons, including Express, Stride Rite, Crabtree & Evelyn, Aeropostale and Jos. A. Banks. And the app seems to be driving a lot of traffic: it’s being reported that at least half of all shoppers who move a coupon to their mobile wallets redeem that coupon.

I downloaded the Clip’d app and took it for a spin. There aren’t a ton of deals for my local shopping center – yet. And Macy’s doesn’t seem to have any current offers. But I like the idea that retailers, which aren’t issuing their own mobile coupons, will be sending mobile deals to shoppers via Clip’d.

Pssst! Want a great mobile Macy’s deal? Make sure you “like” Macy’s on Facebook and claim this offer for $25 off your next purchase of $100 or more (Good through Oct 21).
